Rhiannon

I’m Rhiannon, a Person-Centred counsellor and Co-founder of Storm and Rise Therapy. I hold a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

I was drawn to counselling through my natural empathy, my ability to notice patterns and connections, and years of working with people in healthcare and mental health settings. I’ve always been fascinated by what lies beneath the surface of what we experience, and by the ways our experiences can shape how we see ourselves and the world around us.

Life can sometimes leave us feeling overwhelmed, disconnected or unsure of where to go next. I offer a space to pause, breathe, explore what’s happening beneath the surface and begin to find your own way through it.

My approach is warm, compassionate, non-judgemental and collaborative. I work integratively, with Person-Centred Therapy remaining at the heart of how I work. I’m trauma-informed and neuro-affirming, meeting you where you are and respecting that you are the expert in your own life. Rather than telling you what you should do, I’ll work alongside you to explore your experiences, understand yourself more deeply and discover what feels right for you.

One of my particular areas of interest is the relationship between women’s physical, hormonal and emotional health.

Hormonal changes can affect so much more than our bodies. They can influence our mood, energy, relationships, confidence, sense of identity and how we experience ourselves; yet the emotional impact of hormonal changes and women’s health experiences can often be minimised, overlooked or dismissed.

I’m experienced in supporting women through experiences such as PMS and PMDD, pregnancy, birth, the transition into parenthood, perimenopause and other hormonal changes.

I create a space where you can talk openly about the impact these experiences are having on your life, without feeling that you have to simply “get on with it”.

Another area I have significant experience in is the psychological impact of living with chronic illness, disability, allergies and anaphylaxis.

Living with a body that feels unpredictable can bring fear, uncertainty, hypervigilance, frustration and grief. It can change how safe the world feels, affect your relationships and independence, and influence how you approach everyday activities.

There can be a particular emotional weight to conditions that other people cannot see or easily understand. Therapy can offer a space to explore these experiences without minimising them or reducing you to a diagnosis.

I also offer support around anxiety, including health anxiety and eco-anxiety, as well as burnout, stress and overwhelm. I can support you in exploring neurodivergence and navigating a world that isn’t always designed with you in mind, or in making sense of trauma and the lasting effects of domestic abuse, including recovery from narcissistic abuse.

Therapy can also provide space to explore self-esteem and self-worth, shame and guilt, identity, relationships and boundaries, or the experience of feeling lost or disconnected from yourself during times of change. I can also offer support around carer stress and the emotional impact of caring for someone else, as well as the many changes and challenges that can come with pregnancy, birth and parenthood.

I recognise that there isn’t one way to be human, and I want therapy to be a space where you don’t have to edit or hide parts of yourself to feel accepted.

My practice is neuro-affirming, sex-positive and kink-informed. You can talk openly about relationships, sexuality, intimacy, consensual kink and other aspects of your life without fear of judgement or shame. I believe therapy should be a place where you can explore who you are, rather than somewhere you have to perform who you think you are supposed to be.

I offer face-to-face, online, telephone and walk-and-talk therapy. Sometimes sitting opposite a therapist in a traditional room doesn’t feel natural, and being outdoors can make conversation feel easier and more relaxed.

We can walk, talk, pause, notice what’s around us, or simply take things at your pace. There is no expectation that you need to fill every silence or have the right words.

You don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong before you come to therapy. You don’t need to have everything figured out, and you don’t need to wait until things become unbearable.

You can arrive exactly as you are.

I offer a space where you can feel safe enough to explore, understood enough to be honest, and supported enough to discover your own way forward.
